The Voice Channel Beta we announced in March is now generally available on all Growth and Enterprise plans, alongside a new Cross-Border Payments Assist flow built for the specific failure modes that come with international transactions.

Voice Channel: GA

Since beta, average time-to-resolution on voice-initiated conversations has dropped from just under three minutes to under 90 seconds, driven by improvements in turn-taking latency and identity verification speed. GA adds outbound calling for proactive notifications (a shipment delay, a subscription renewal reminder) and full call recording with the same audit trail introduced in Juneโ€™s Compliance Audit Trail release.

Outbound calling required its own careful design work around consent and timing โ€” an AI agent calling a customer proactively needs clear rules about acceptable calling hours, a straightforward opt-out thatโ€™s honored immediately, and a script that gets to the point quickly rather than opening with an extended preamble.

Cross-Border Payments Assist

One of the most common โ€” and most poorly handled, historically โ€” support intents for merchants selling internationally is a failed or declined cross-border payment, where the actual cause (currency conversion hold, issuing bank block, 3D Secure mismatch) is opaque to both the customer and a generic support agent. The new flow integrates directly with major payment processors to pull the actual decline reason and translate it into a plain-language explanation and next step.

That gap is worth dwelling on: the conversational skill required to explain a payment decline clearly hadnโ€™t changed at all between the old flow and the new one. What changed was purely data access. Itโ€™s a useful reminder that a support automation problem that looks like a conversation-quality problem is sometimes actually a systems-integration problem in disguise.

Also in This Release

The Simulation Sandbox now supports voice transcript replay, not just text, closing a gap that had limited voice-specific testing to live shadow mode alone until now. Xiaohongshu integration now supports scheduled comment replies for time-zone-appropriate response windows, useful for global brands whose social team doesnโ€™t operate on China business hours.

Availability

Voice Channel GA is included in Growth and Enterprise plans at no additional per-minute cost through the end of Q3. Cross-Border Payments Assist requires a supported payment processor integration โ€” check your account dashboard for compatibility, and reach out to your account team if your processor isnโ€™t yet listed.
